Sandra “Sandi” Kay Crile 1961-2025 Sandra “Sandi” Kay Crile, 63, passed away peacefully at her home in Chadron, NE, on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones, after a courageous battle with cancer. In keeping with her and her family’s wishes, no services will be held at this time.
Sandi was born on September 25, 1961, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Linford and Eleanor (Johnson) Mockerman.
She is survived by her loving husband of over 40 years, Steve; her son Adam Smith of Lexington, NE; her son Stephen Crile of Alliance, NE; her son and daughter-in-law, John and Jodi Crile of Chadron; and her daughter, Cali Crile of Mexico, MO. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Owen Smith and Serena Hancock.
Sandi is survived by her sister, Jodi Schwinler of Fort Pierre, SD; her nieces and nephews, Megan (Tom) Lehmkuhl, Molle (Joe) Palmer, Merlin (Nicole) Schwinler, Amanda (Rylan) Bauer, Matt (Michaela) Mockerman, and Mandy (Jason) Stubbs; as well as many great-nieces and great-nephews who brought her great joy.
She is also lovingly remembered by her sister-in-law, Vicki (Emil) Raben of Crawford, NE and Donita (Mike) Mockerman of Alliance, NE.
Sandi was preceded in death by her parents, Linford and Eleanor; her brother, Michael “Wade” Mockerman; and her brother-in-law, Mike Schwinler.
Sandi was a devoted wife to Steve and a loving mother to her children—Adam, Stephen, John, and Cali. Family was always at the center of her life. She poured her heart into supporting her children, cherishing her grandchildren, and caring for the many pets that brought joy to her and her family’s homes. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she loved each of them with a fierce and unwavering devotion.
Sandi had a generous spirit and a heart that was always open to others. She never hesitated to lend a helping hand, often putting the needs of others before her own.
Her kindness, selflessness, and gentle strength touched everyone fortunate enough to know her. She will be remembered for her radiant smile, a smile that lit up every room she entered and left a lasting impression on all who crossed her path. Her legacy of love, compassion, and laughter will live on through the family she so deeply cherished.
