Sandra Sheila Baum (Stein), a beloved mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2025, at the age of 86.

Sandra was born and raised on Southern Boulevard in The Bronx, New York. She was the daughter of the late Albert & Malka "Margaret" (Leibovitz) Stein, both of whom emigrated to the United States in the 1920's, he from Poland and she from Romania. She grew up with her three brothers in an apartment above their parents' candy store.

Sandra returned to college as an adult and mother to earn her degree in accounting, becoming a Certified Public Accountant – a testament to her drive and determination.

She spent most of her life on Long Island where she raised her three children Scott Einhorn, Kim Shapiro (Einhorn) and Jonathan Baum in Miller Place and then Port Washington. As the founder of the Mount Sinai Sailing Association in Mount Sinai, NY, she created a vibrant community for fellow sailboat racing enthusiasts and left a lasting legacy on the Long Island Sound waters she so dearly loved.

Sandra's entrepreneurial spirit led her to start a successful dog grooming business, combining her professional skills with her deep affection for dogs. She was also very active in agility training and competitions with her three Border Terriers.

For many years she was a staunch supporter and fundraiser for the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. It was a cause that was very close to her heart.

In 2016, she moved to Plainville, MA to be near family. She enjoyed spending time with friends playing bridge and participating in yoga and Tai Chi classes.

Sandra's greatest joy came from her family. She was the dear sister of identical twins, Arthur and Sidney Stein and of Nelson Stein. She is survived by her loving children Kim Shapiro & her husband Bruce, Jonathan Baum & his wife Judy, and Scott Einhorn & his wife Dianne; her grandchildren Sydney Shapiro, Chandler Shapiro, Spencer Shapiro, Chloe Baum, Cody Baum, Bryce Einhorn & his wife Heather Lothrop and Max Einhorn & his wife Amanda; and great-grandmother Landon Einhorn, Cooper Einhorn and Beckett Einhorn.

There will be a private family service. The family will be observing Shiva on Sunday, August 17, 2025 from 12: Noon- 7:00 PM at the home of Kim and Bruce Shapiro in Sharon, Massachusetts.

Her warmth, wisdom, and unwavering support will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May her life and legacy be a blessing. In lieu of flowers, to honor Sandra's lifelong love for animals, donations may be made to Cape Ann Animal Aid, 4 Paws Lane, Gloucester, MA 01930, or online at capeannanimalaid.org.
