Sandra Mae (Childers) Berkshire ,74, of Camden passed away on June 28, 2025, at Franciscan Health in Lafayette.
She was born July 19, 1950, in Jeffersonville, IN to the late Samuel and Sally (Price) Childers. On March 1, 1969, in Royal Center, IN she married Richard A. Berkshire, who preceded her in death August 24, 2019
Sandra worked as the head cook at Purdue University for many years before retiring. She was a member of Rockfield Christian Church. She enjoyed crafts, reading, but mostly spending time with her family.
She is survived by one daughter, Melissa (Greg) O’Connor of Camden, IN; one son, Steven (Marianne) Berkshire of Camden, IN; sister, Winona “Tink” (Steve) Scott of Camden, IN; 9 grandchildren, Christopher Peters, Blake Peters, Andrea (Joshua Smith) Shepard, Eric Shafer, Anna Bennett, Nathan (Brooke) Berkshire, Wesley Berkshire, Rachel Berkshire and David Berkshire, and 12 great-grandchildren, Izzabela Peters, Phillip Peters, William Peters, Ronan Peters, Violet Peters, Addison Shepard, Gracie Shepard, Jade Berkshire, Olivia Berkshire, Parker, Berkshire, Alexandria Berkshire and Madilyn Whaley; several nieces and nephews.
Along with her husband, Sandra is preceded in death by her parents, father-in law, John Berkshire, sister-in-law, Lorie Berkshire, brother-in-law, Mike Berkshire.
A celebration of life will be on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at 1:00 pm in the Gundrum Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Harrison officiating.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2025, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, all in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Woodville Cemetery in Camden.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Rockfield Christian Church
