Sandra “Sandy” Theresa Brightshue, 87, of Layton, UT, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2025, at Chancellor Gardens, surrounded by the same love and warmth she shared so freely throughout her life.

Born on May 1, 1938, in New Castle, Pennsylvania, Sandy lived a full and beautiful life grounded in love, laughter, and faith. She graduated from New Castle High School and went on to serve with the Army Air Force Exchange Services for 20 years as a Contract Supervisor. Her dedication, organization, and heart for people were evident in everything she did.

On June 9, 1956, Sandy married the love of her life, Roger Brightshue. Together, they shared an incredible 72 years of life and love with 68 of those as husband and wife— a love story marked by devotion, laughter, and an unshakable bond. From their beautiful union came two cherished children, Lance Brightshue and Dawn Hemphill, who were the heart and joy of their lives.

Sandy was a woman of many passions. She found peace and joy in her rose garden, loved to fish, and enjoyed cooking and caring for her home. She stayed active through swimming, bowling, and tai chi—earning her brown belt and showing that strength and grace truly know no age. Sandy loved gathering with friends, celebrating holidays, and making sure every moment together was filled with warmth and connection.

She will be remembered for her kindness, humor, faith, generosity, and incredible resilience. Sandy had a special gift for making everyone feel seen and loved. Her laughter filled rooms, and her caring heart touched countless lives. She was known to say she could tell if someone was from Pennsylvania “the minute they talked”—a playful reflection of her sharp wit and easy charm.

Sandy is survived by her loving husband, Roger Brightshue; her beloved children, Lance Brightshue and Dawn Hemphill; her precious grandchildren: Kortnee Brightshue, Roger Crafton and James Crafton, and five great-grandchildren Blakelee, Josee, Kannon, Jaxton and Jaden as well as several dear friends who will forever carry her memory in their hearts. She was preceded in death by her father, Fred Frengel and brother, Joe Frengel and friends who no doubt welcomed her home with open arms.

Sandy chose to be cremated and will be laid to rest at Lindquist Mortuary on Fairfield Road. Her family will celebrate her life in a Celebration of Life service, honoring the love, laughter, and light she gave so freely.

Sandy Brightshue will be remembered as a woman who loved deeply, lived fully, and made every person feel like family. Her legacy of warmth and compassion will continue to shine in the lives of all who were blessed to know her.
