Sandra "Sandy" Margaret Busse (nee Schanning) passed peacefully on Thursday, March 27, 2025. Beloved wife of 62 years to Frederick John Busse. Loving mother to and survived by Mary Beth (Gary) Hohnl, Doyle Busse, and Dale (Kelli) Busse. Grandmother to Kurt (Robbee) Hohnl, Tricia (Jacob) Dobrient, and Megan (Matthew) Jakubowski, Micheal (Isabel) Penneau, and Oliver Busse. Great-grandmother to Peyton Oestreich, Eleanor Jakubowski, and Sofia Penneau.
Born June 21, 1941 to Eleanor and Matthew Schanning, Sandy was the eighth of ten siblings. Family was her life. With the passing of her father at a young age, she took her younger siblings, Gail and Douglas, under her wing as if she was the mother. Gail truly became her lifelong best friend to the very end. Sandy graduated from Bayview High School in 1959 and started work at Cutler-Hammer.
On November 3, 1962 Sandy married Frederick John Busse. Her love of family grew with her three beautiful children for which she cared deeply about. Sandy was always surrounded by her children, siblings, cousins, nieces and nephews at the variety of parties she hosted flawlessly, from Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve in their basement, helping with Halloween scares, family chili dumps, to her infamous 4th of July picnics. Her love of family continued to grow at car shows with Sandy and Fred as back-up pit crew, vacations at the cabin up north and the land in Viroqua, and many side trips all over the country. If she wasn't with family, she could be found working at Valley Sand and Gravel or at home testing out the latest recipe. Sandy also loved a good bargain hunt, or simply playing games at the kitchen table with the grandkids.
The one thing for certain is that Sandy will be remembered by those who loved her as a feisty woman who loved a good cup of coffee and a long gossip session with her friends and family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
