Sandra Marie Carlson, age 65, of Emery, SD died Saturday, August 23, 2025 at her home under hospice care. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Friday, August 29, 2025 at the Will Funeral Chapel with burial at Lakeside Cemetery, Spencer, SD. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Sandra (Koepke) Carlson, daughter of James Koepke and Evelyn (Richards) Huntimer, was born June 2, 1960 in Racine, WI. At the age of five she moved with her family to Freeman, SD where Sandy attended kindergarten. In the mid 1960's she moved with her family to Mitchell, SD where she received her education.

Sandy was united in marriage with Steven Carlson on March 18, 1978 in Mitchell, SD. From this marriage a daughter was born, Stephany. The couple made their home in the Mitchell area. In the mid 1990's Sandy began her career with Menards, working as a cashier, at the service desk and the front office. She retired after 26 years of service with Menards in inventory control management.

Sandy enjoyed gardening, camping, motorcycles and flowers. She attended the Methodist church and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Steven Carlson, Emery, SD; her mother, Evelyn (Richards) Huntimer, Dell Rapids, SD; three sisters, Sue (Kenneth) Carlson, Madison, SD, Kimberly (Al) Berven, Dell Rapids, SD, and Kim Huntimer of Madison, SD; three brothers, Dan Huntimer, Phoenix, AZ, Dave (Nancy) Huntimer of Brandon, SD, and Rusty Koepke, Mt. Vernon, SD; her step mother, Patricia Koepke, Mitchell, SD; a sister-in-law, Denise (Del) Fluth, Chamberlain, SD; three brothers-in-law, Bill (Bonita) Carlson, Custer, SD, Cleve (Jody) Carlson, Los Angeles, CA; Charlie (Judy) Carlson, Mitchell, SD; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Stephany; her father, James Koepke; her step father, William P. Huntimer; a sister, Kandi Jo Koepke; a sister-in-law, Sheryl (Bill) Wagner; two step brothers, Patrick and Tony Huntimer; and her in-laws, Bill and Elsie Carlson.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Avera Hospice.
