SHELBY- Sandra Kay Earl, a beacon of light, passed away on October 22, 2025, at the age of 72 in Shelby. Born on May 5, 1953, Sandra embraced life with grace, compassion, and an infectious sense of humor that left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
Sandra dedicated over 30 years of her career to Gardner Webb University, where she was an invaluable member of the nursing department for most of her career and later worked in the marketing department. Her colleagues and friends at the university will remember her not only for her professionalism and dedication but also for her ability to bring joy and warmth to the workplace.
A devoted member of Christopher Road Baptist Church, Sandra's faith was a guiding force in her life. She exemplified kindness and generosity, always ready to offer a helping hand or a kind word to those in need.
Sandra was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Charlie and Louise Connor. She leaves behind a loving family who cherished her deeply: her husband, Douglas "Doug" Earle; her son, Vance Earle, and his wife Susan of Shelby; her daughters, Donna Bridges and the late Tim of Charlotte, and Carmen Faries and her husband Derrick, along with their son Lucas of Bessemer City. She is also survived by her dear sister, Johnnie Martin, and her husband Jeep of Rutherford County; and many friends.
