Sandra Ellison Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Charter Funeral Home on Jan. 2, 2026.
Sandra Ellison, beloved grandmother, mother, and sister, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, surrounded by her friends and family at the age of 79. She was born June 26, 1946, and spent her life devoted to her family, faith, and community.

Sandra is a native to Pelham, Alabama. She served her community through the US Postal Service and is the co-founder of Pelham Machine and Tool and Pelham Industrial Manufacturing. When not working, Sandra spent many hours on their family farm with her beloved Buttercup and many other family horses along with her grandson, Matthew. As the family gathered at the home her favorite times were spent in the music room listening to her son, Brian, playing the piano while the love of her life, Bobby Ray, and grandson, Jacob, serenaded the family with old gospel hymns.

Sandra is known for her kindness, strength, faith, and unwavering love for those around her. She had a special gift for making everyone feel welcomed and loved, whether through her warm smile, thoughtful advice, or embracing hugs. Sandra was a place of comfort, guidance, and love to all who knew her. There is no better way to describe her other than she was the prime example of perfection.

She is preceded in death by husband, Bobby Ray Ellison; parents, Jessie Mae and Noah Hosmer; sisters, Linda Anderson and Genia Hosmer. She is survived by her son, Brian Ellison of Thorsby; daughter, Cindy Grier (Jeff) of Maylene; grandsons, Matthew Lovelace (Amy) of Calera, Jacob Grier (Allie) of Booney Lake, WA, and Nestor Santamaria of Montevallo; great grandchildren, Ava Cate and Ellisyn Lovelace and Baby Grier. Sandra is survived by her brothers, Terry Hosmer (Shirley) of Montevallo and Michael Hosmer (Renee) of Alabaster; and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Sandra's life will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Open Door Church in Helena, AL. There will be a viewing from 12:00 p.m.-1:00 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Sandra will be buried next to Bobby at the Pelham City Cemetery immediately following the service. Sandra will be remembered for her heart, gentle spirit, and the legacy of love she leaves behind.
