Sandra Kay Gibbs

Sandra Kay Gibbs, 73, passed away Thursday July 27 at 11:20 pm in Las Vegas,NV. She was born November 20,1949 in Quincy, Il to Ronald and Virginia (Forden) Clow. Sandy was in the food service industry all her life. Besides working at her parents bakeries and restaurants she worked at the White House restaurant in Dixon, Il and recently at Iron Skillet in Las Vegas where she met some wonderful friends.
Sandy was a hard worker and stubborn as hell. The joy in her life were her kids and her husband, Roy "Vern" of over 30 years. He preceded her in death in April of 2022 and she missed him deeply. Sandy and her sister, Lisa raised their kids by themselves and had the most fun doing it. They may not have had much, but those kids had whatever they needed. As I was reminded of the weekends at Big Surf and then Minder Binders when we all lived in Arizona. $20 went a long ways in the 80's.
Sandy is preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Ronald Edward and her ever loving husband Roy.
Surviving are her children: Michael (Rosa) Otten of Las Vegas, Denise Napier of Elizabethtown, TN and Jim (Leti) Otten of Las Vegas. A sister Lisa ( Kermit) Burgess-Masten of Quincy, IL And a step daughter Kathy Bennett. Grandchildren: Kallie, Kobie,Kason,Kenna, James Jr. Otten all of Las Vegas, Travis, Trevor & Sandy Otten of Las Vegas and Katherine, Ronald, Danica and Caleb Napier of Elizabethton,TN and David and Cassie Bennett. Two Nephews Josh Burgess of Ferndale, WA and Marc (Ellyse) Amarillas of O' Fallon, IL and 4 great grandchildren and other nieces, Nephews,great nieces & great nephews and several cousins ( especially on our Meyer side).
funeral services will be 3pm Friday August 18, 2023 at LaPaloma Funeral Services 2551 S Ft. Apache Rd. Las Vegas,NV 89117. Cremation rites have been established.
