Sandra Griffin, a cherished member of the community and a retired school teacher from Kenton County Schools, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2025, at the age of 79. Born in Covington, KY, on May 26, 1945, Sandra devoted her life to education and the betterment of her students, often going above and beyond to ensure their success.
Sandra's legacy extends beyond her professional accomplishments. She was a beloved wife to Larry Griffin of Alvaton, KY, and a doting mother to her daughter, Stacy Howard (William), also of Alvaton. As a grandmother—affectionately known as "Nan"—she took immense pride in her three wonderful grandchildren, Katie, Lofton, and Griffin Howard. Her family was her greatest joy, and she treasured every moment spent with them.
In addition to her devotion to family, Sandra had a zest for life that was evident in her myriad of interests. She loved traveling to warm destinations like Florida and exciting places like Las Vegas, always seeking new adventures. A sports enthusiast, she enjoyed watching football, basketball, and volleyball, cheering on her favorite teams with passion. Her love for animals was equally profound; she had a kind heart and was known for rescuing many animals throughout her life.
Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, James and Kathryn Rainey, who instilled in her values that would guide her through life.
A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held on May 26, 2025, with the location to be determined. This gathering will serve as a testament to Sandra's vibrant spirit and the indelible mark she left on all who knew her. Her warmth, kindness, and dedication to her family and community will be forever cherished and remembered.
