Sandra Leah Herron, age 85, passed away Sunday March 8, 2026 at Rosalia Gardens under the care of LeRoyer Hospice.
Sandra was born on July 16, 1940 in Chicago, Il to the late John Walter and Mildred Priscilla (Johnson) Pearson.
Her Swedish heritage influenced her life greatly and in a positive way. Her childhood on the southside of Chicago included knowledge of the Swedish language from listening to her grandparents, membership in the Swedish Club of Dolton, Il, and fond memories of her family’s bakery, Pearson’s Bakery in Chicago Heights, IL which is still operating today with the same “old school” style as days gone by.
Sandra was a graduate of Bloom High School in Chicago Heights and went on to Gloria Stevens Finishing School. She worked for Commonwealth Edison for several years.
Sandra was united in marriage to Harold George Goetz in February of 1963. Sandra and Harold resided in Harvey, Il for many years and, as their daughter Cynthia reached middle school age, they moved to Cedar Lake, IN in 1976. Harold preceded Sandra in death on May 27, 1986. She then married Kenneth Earl Herron on March 12, 1988. He survives and resides in Cedar Lake, IN.
For many years, Sandra was a member of American Legion Post 261 Auxiliary in Cedar Lake where she had many dear friends. She will be remembered for her attention to details, her organizational skills and record keeping, her love of NASCAR (her favorite driver being Terry Labonte), her fondness for travel, summer trips to northern Wisconsin, living on Cedar Lake, her passion for anything Swedish, and her love for her family.
In addition to her husband, survivors include husband Kenneth, daughter Cynthia (Ted) AvéLallemant of Deerbrook, grandchildren: Christina (TJ) Ebert and Britta (Michael) Wolter, great grandchildren: Analise, Leo, Blaire, Teddi, stepchildren: Pat (Bill) Black, Bob Herron, Jim (Donna) Herron, and step grandchildren: Justin, Josh, Jim, and Jacob Herron.
A service of remembrance will be held at a later date in Cedar Lake, IN. Interment will be in Skyline Memorial Park in Monee, IL.
