Sandra Sue Hoover, age 86, of Topeka, Kansas, passed away August 17, 2025, after a long battle with dementia at the Gardens of Aldersgate, Topeka. Sue was born September 25, 1938, in Toronto, Kansas, to Buford H. Welch and Pauline G. (Dennis) Welch.
Sue graduated from Moran Rural High School in 1956, and from Clark's School of Business in Topeka. She and Gerald L. Hoover were married May 7, 1960, in Moran, Kansas, but later divorced.
Sue worked all her life in the secretarial field, retiring from HBD in Chanute. She enjoyed fishing, reading and camping, and especially her pet dogs. She was a collector of Avon memorabilia. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren, especially attending the grandchildren's activities.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her children, Mark (Kate) Hoover of Overland Park and Traci (Tim) Hallacy of Topeka; grandchildren, Paige (fiancé Jordan Fowler) Hallacy of Kansas City, Missouri, Blake Hallacy of Topeka, and Lauren Hoover and Brett Hoover of Overland Park, along with many cousins.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on August 21, 2025, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 1883 US Highway 54, Iola, Kansas. Burial will immediately follow in the Moran Cemetery, Moran, Kansas.
Memorials are suggested to Allen County Animal Rescue Facility (ACARF), and may be left with Feuerborn Family Funeral Service.
