Sandra Hughes, 76, of Pampa, passed away on Friday, July 21, 2023 in Pampa.
Memorial services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, July 27, 2023 at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Pastor Jim Sinyard, pastor of Carpenter’s Church, officiating. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Sandra was born October 6, 1946 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Bill and Leona Wood. She graduated from Corsicana High School and went on to attend a junior college in south Texas. After college, she moved to Amarillo and several other cities before moving to Pampa in 1976. Sandra worked at Pampa Nursing Center for 35 years, retiring in 2008. After retiring, she spent many hours on her computer researching genealogy and playing games. Sandra loved spending time with her grandchildren and her four dogs.
She was preceded in death by a son, Terry Hughes.
Survivors include her two sons, Johnny Hughes of Pampa and William Hughes and wife Dory of Amarillo; and Jerry Hughes; two brothers, William Wood and David Wood both of Pampa; four grandchildren, Zachary Woodruff and wife RaeNel, Jared Woodruff and wife Caitlin, Sierra Hughes, and Aashna Hughes; and nine great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
