Sandra Ikuta Obituary

Sandra Segal Ikuta, age 71, Los Angeles born, Federal Judge for
19 years, passed away on December 7, 2025. Prior to joining the U.S. Court of Appeals, she practiced environmental law with diction for twelve years as leader of the Environmental Practice Group at O'Melveny and Myers, and two years as General Counsel at the California Natural Resources Agency. She was known for her clarity of thought, commitment to the rule of law, as well as her generous mentorship and devotion to family and friends.
Beloved wife of Edward Donald Ikuta; mother of Lillian Taka Ikuta; sister of Lorraine (Linda Jones) Segal; sister-in-law of Elaine Tominaga; also survived by other relatives. She touched many lives with her wisdom, warmth, and humor.
Private funeral services were held on Friday, December 19, at the West LA United Methodist Church, with Rev. Jeri Okamoto-Tanaka officiating.
