TROY - Sandy, born in Troy, Ohio. She spent majority of her life in the medical field, as an X-ray tech & RN.
Sandy graduated from Bethesda Hospital School of Nursing in Cincinnati where she found her love of working in the Operating room. Upon graduation she worked as head scrub nurse on open heart surgical cases at Holmes Hospital.
The last 20 years of her career was spent in the US Air Force Nurse Corps where she worked as a nurse, charge nurse, supervisor & Nursing Education Coordinator.
She was also Director of Development at Wright-Patterson Air Force Medical Center where she coordinated a $123M construction project. This involved coordination & organization between the Medical Center, Army Corps of Engineers, the Project Health Facilities office & the contractor.
She received her bachelor's degree at Indiana University where she was inducted into the National Honor Society of Nursing. She earned a Master of Nursing Administration from the University of NM.
She was stationed in Turkey, Germany & stateside bases. During that time, she completed Air Command & Staff College & Air War College by correspondence. She was selected to attend Flight Nurse School in San Antonio & was chosen Honor Graduate of her class. She was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal & the Meritorious Service Medal. Sandy retired as a USAF Major.
She was a passionate animal advocate & volunteer for many years at many animal rescues. She loved all animals but especially cats & dogs. She asks that you please donate, in her memory, to your favorite animal charity.
Her final resting place will be at Riverside Cemetery Troy, OH.

My condolences to the family. I read where she was a Bethesda graduate, so am I (1967) and also had 2 assignments to Wright-Patt. She sure had a varied career in the Air Force. I would have enjoyed meeting her.
