Sandra Mae "Evans" Koppes

Sandra Mae (Evans) Koppes, 84, a former resident of Massillon, OH, passed away Wednesday, November 26, 2025, after an extended illness at her residence, The Lakes at Jefferson in Mercer, PA.

Sandra was born on June 10, 1941, the daughter of the late William (Buzz) and Dorthea (Dot) Bartlett Evans.

Sandy was an avid bird watcher and loved exploring nature trails. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family and friends, especially playing games and doing crafts. She loved to help where she could by volunteering for Hospice and with activities at the Senior Center where she lived. Sandy was a Christian and often spoke of the tremendous influence Granny, Mable Philips had on her life and in bringing her to the Faith.

She is survived by two children, Kim Johnson of Canton, Ohio and Eric (Sharon) Koppes of Grass Valley, California along with siblings William (Sharon) Evans, Sharon Dillinger both of Titusville PA, Kenneth Evans of Hydetown PA, Brian (Brenda) Evans of Prospect, PA, Margie Beaver of Temecula CA, Eda Cox, West Plains MO and Jack Chivington, Boardman OR. Sandy will also be fondly remembered by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Sandy was proceeded in death by her husband, Richard A. Koppes whom she married on March 9, 1962, and a daughter, Melissa Makan, four brothers Donald Evans, David Evans, Donald Chivington and Roy Chivington.

Cremation has taken place, with final disposition of ashes at the convenience of the family. Memorials or donations may be made to a charity of your choice.

Arrangements entrusted to Young Funeral Home, Ltd. in Butler, Pennsylvania with no services at her request.
