Leonville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Leonville for Sandra Bonin Lanclos, 77, who passed away on September 25, 2023, at Calcutta House in Lafayette, following a hard fought battle against cancer.
A visitation will take place at the funeral home in Arnaudville on Friday from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm. It will continue on Saturday from 8:00 am until 10:30 am.
A Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 pm on Friday evening by the St. Leo Rosary Group.
Father Darren Eldridge will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Avery Lynn Lanclos, Raegan Breaux and Kari Madsen. Gift bearers will be Courtney Lanclos and Gracey Lanclos.
Interment will follow at St. Leo the Great Cemetery.
Sandra was born on June 30, 1946, to Joseph and Louise (Mistrot) Bonin, in Arnaudville, LA. Sandra resided in Arnaudville until she married and moved to Pecaniere, LA where she would raise her children. She married her late husband, Larry G. Lanclos, Sr. on November 27, 1969.
In 1968, Sandra began a career in education, teaching at Leonville Elementary, Arnaudville High School, and Beau Chene High School, where she retired in 2000 as an art teacher. Art was her passion! Following her retirement, Sandra spent her time doing what she loved; caring for her grandchildren, volunteering in various ways at St. Leo The Great Catholic Church in Leonville, LA and painting and drawing personalized Christmas and Easter cards that her friends and family will cherish forever. In addition to being a talented artist, Sandra had a green thumb! Her plants were well taken care of and well loved. She is remembered for being gracious, kind, generous, selfless, and devoted to her Catholic faith.
She is survived by her daughter, Cori Lyn Lanclos of Dallas, TX; son, Larry Gene Lanclos, Jr. (Courtney) of Lafayette, LA; grandchildren, Avery Lynn Lanclos and Gracey Marie Lanclos; sisters, Kathleen Bonin Breaux, Frances Bonin Stelly and Lillian Bonin Lastrapes (Leevi); and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Larry Gene Lanclos, Sr.; and her parents, James Bonin and Louise Mistrot Bonin.
Pallbearers will be Jody Breaux, Kirk Breaux, Reggie Breaux, Alex Breaux, Mike Madsen and Leevi Lastrapes.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the local Catholic non-profit: Faith Community Benefactors at P.O. Box 61400, Lafayette, LA 70596-1400.
