Sandra Luppert Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Abbey Cremation Service - Rocky Hill on Mar. 13, 2026.
Sandra (Bliss) Luppert, 90, of Franklin, passed away peacefully at home in the care of hospice and her family on Sept 20, 2025. She no longer suffers, and the Gates of Heaven opened to welcome her to Eternal Life.

Sandra was born on July 28, 1935, to the late Harold Bliss and Margaret (Sputford) Bliss in Wales, MA. She grew in the Bowden farmhouse in Wales under the loving care of Viola Bowden, her foster grandmother. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by three siblings, Lucille, Thomas, and Frank, and her grandson, Ryan O'Connell.

Sandy is survived by her husband, Robert Luppert, children Debra (Jim) Baltzell, Shari (Maury) Drake, Wendy (Ernie) DiRubbo, Jeff Semmelrock, five grandchildren, Peter & Kevin Konow, Shailyn (Nick) Vanase, Alyssa (Connor) Waitt, Brandon (Shu) Semmelrock, four great grandchildren, Parker Rose, Austin & Liam Vanase, Marigold Waitt, and siblings Harold, Wayne, Donny, and Dorothy. She is also survived by her foster children, daughters-in-love, Judy Cammer and Leslie Losacano Roller, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sandy was a 1952 graduate of Norwich Free Academy. She began her career as a bookkeeper at the Norwich Bulletin, Atlas Pools, Hushard Agency, and retired from Consumer Paper Supply. Sandy kept her summers busy in the early '70's babysitting for the Postler girls, Stone family, and full time for the Beyor family. She would sometimes have up to eight children at once, besides her own four children, at her Scotland home. After retiring in the late '80's, she was caregiver to her special needs grandson, Ryan.

Sandy loved attending Grace Episcopal Church and was a lifetime member for 80 years. She met Bob at choir practice, and they married in 1972. She was an active member at Grace Church and participated in all the church's events. She was also a member of the Yantic Women's Auxiliary for 50 years, along with her daughter, Debbie.

Her favorite enjoyment in life was camping with Bob at Bourne Scenic Park, Cape Cod, at their favorite site and watching the cruise ships pass through the canal. Second best was vacationing yearly with Debbie in York Beach, Maine, along with Jeff and the "Maine Group". Wendy also stayed the same week nearby and visited her, as well as Shari occasionally. She was known as "Nanny" and "Grammy" by her grandchildren who enjoyed camping, swimming, and summer vacations with her and Poppy. They named her "Nascar Nanny" because of her safe driving with a lead foot. Most recently she cherished her Wednesday visits at Wendy's home enjoying a delicious homecooked meal and visiting with Marigold, her youngest great granddaughter, who she developed a special bond with. She looked forward to lunches with Shari and enjoyed getting a scalp massage at home or being treated to a professional one at the spa. She loved her visits with Jeff who would bring her favorite red potato pizza from Willington Pizza. On Fridays, she loved getting a Philly Cheese steak grinder from the Bozrah Farmers Market with Bob. Many thanks to Karen Barber, her hairdresser and friend, who made weekly home visits since Covid to keep her always beautiful.

Sandy was a loving, caring, generous, and spiritual Wife, Mother, Foster Mom, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and Friend. She had a gift of making everyone feel welcomed with her kindness and smile. She gave her children lifetime lessons on how to cook, canning, be responsible, respectful, forgiveness, and the true meaning of family. She was the Best Mommy and touched the lives of everyone she met. We will miss her smile, love, laughter, and maternal guidance.

A Memorial Service will be held at Grace Episcopal Church on October 18th @ 11am and all are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Grace Episcopal Church, 4 Chapel Hill Road, Yantic, CT 06389.
