Sandra Kay McCannon, 80, of Burlington, died Sunday, June 22, 2025, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born April 29, 1945, she was the daughter of Walter Forrest and Edna Pearl McCannon.
She was a 1963 graduate of Burlington High School.
She was a member of the Burlington Charter Chapter of the American Business Women's Association (ABWA) for over 20 years in which she held all offices, organized seminars and twice was named Woman of the Year. She was a volunteer for Burlington Steamboat Days for 14 years on Souvenir and Entertainment Committees.
Sandra worked for Niehaus Motors Company for 35 years until her retirement in 2011.
Her hobbies included reading, word search puzzles, traveling, genealogy, crafts and flowers. She loved all animals, especially cats. She enjoyed decorating cakes for over 30 years and dining out and going to the movies with her friends.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews whom she adored.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Harvey Eugene, Walter, Forrest, Lloyd, Bill, Don and Margaret.
Per her wishes, there will be no services. Cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel. Burial will be held at a later date in Carman Cemetery, Carman, Illinois.
Memorials are suggested to the Des Moines County Humane Society or the Special Needs Foundation in memory of Sandra McCannon.
