Cherished Memories
of
Sandra McClish
"Well done, thou good and faithful servant...
Enter thou into the joy of thy Lord."
Matthew 25:21
Sandra was born on April 17, 1950, in Coffeyville, Kansas to Dolton and Vetrul (Gunter)
Holt. She attended Field Kindley High School in Coffeyville and then moved to Wichita
Kansas where she completed High School at Dunbar School. She graduated from a
secretarial program at Central Vocational Training in 1970 and returned in 1971 to
complete a follow-up secretarial program. In 1978, Sandra completed sheet metal
training at Cessna Wallace Aircraft. After moving to Oklahoma City, she completed
electrician training for AT&T in April 1987. She also graduated from a Machine
Operator Training Program at Oklahoma City Community College.
Sandra has worked hard all her life. She worked for Langdon Manufacturing (textile
sheet metal company) in Wichita Kansas as a Textile Specialist. She
worked for AT&T in Oklahoma City, in electrical wiring. And spent most of
her years working in electrical wiring in Wichita Kansas at various Aircraft Manufacturing
Companies such as Cessna Wallace, Boeing Aircraft, and retired from Bombardier Learjet.
Sandra, affectionately known as "Lil Mama," was considered a no-nonsense mother of
three daughters: Cassandra, Randa, Vetrual, and her seven grandchildren. She loved
to shop, because she loved to dress. Sandra loved to sew, knit, crochet, and talk on the
phone for hours with family and friends. She was an avid traveler visiting several states
settling in Tennessee in 2017, however, "there's no place like home", so she returned to
Kansas to be surrounded by family and friends in October 2022. Upon returning to Wichita,
she became a member of Victory Community of Faith Church.
On Monday July 22, 2024, she departed this life, with her daughters by her side, taking
with her wittiness, impeccable sense of fashion, and many stories and memories that
we will forever hold close.
She was preceded in death, by her parents Dolton and Vetrul Holt; and sisters Lydia
Johnson and Sharon Thompkins.
She leaves to cherish her memory: siblings- Sally Allen (Wichita Ks); Jessie Hutchison (Margaret) of Independence Ks: Dalton Holt
(Gwendolyn) of Wichita, Ks: and Dorothea Holt of Tulsa Oklahoma. She also leaves behind daughters: Cassandra White and Vetrual Poole (Wichita, Ks), Randa Thompson (Darrell, Sr.) (Lebanon Tennessee), and her seven grandchildren: Darrellena, Douglas,
Darrell Jr., Drew, Karl, Tylique, and Zaire and host nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors,
and friends.
