Sandra McDonald Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hancliffe Home for Funerals - East Hanover on Jan. 24, 2026.
Sandra Lomelo McDonald 76 of Morristown died Wednesday, January 21, 2026. Born in Orange to George and Elizabeth (Lovenguth) Lomelo, she resided in West Orange for 40 years before moving to Morristown 8 years ago. Sandy was a legendary waitress at Pal's Cabin, Starlite and The Ritz Diner for 40 years prior to her retirement. Sandy had a personal connection with every customer she served and was always ready with a smile, a joke or a story for everyone.

Sandy enjoyed cruises, casino trips and vacations with her husband. She filled her days babysitting her grandchildren and great grandchild, and cherished every moment supporting her family in any way she could. She was in the front row of every comedy show, ball game, school play or important moment, cheering as loud as legally possible.

She is predeceased by her husband Richard J. McDonald and by a sister Dawn Summer. Sandy is survived by three sons: James Lomelo and wife Lisa of Point Pleasant, George Mc Donald and wife Felicia of East Hanover, and Richard McDonald Jr and wife Daniela of Dover, by a daughter Bette Jean Mc Donald of Bloomfield, by five grandchildren: George McDonald and wife Mia, Tyler McDonald, Gianna Lomelo, Turner and Riley Allen, by great granddaughter Ariella McDonald and by a sister Debbie Lomelo of West Orange.

Funeral services will be held 11AM Wednesday at Hancliffe Home for Funerals, 222 Ridgedale Avenue, East Hanover, NJ 07936 followed by burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Visiting hours are Tuesday 4-8PM on Tuesday January 27.
