Sandy was born to Roy and Mabel (Snider) Andrews on November 16th, 1947, in Wichita, Kansas. She graduated from South High School in Wichita in 1966. Sandy met her husband, John McKean, in the school play "Damn Yankees" in 1965, and they wed the following year in South Carolina. Throughout her life, Sandy had several careers; she first worked at Johnson Greenhouse and owned her own ceramics shop in Mount Hope before moving to the Kansas City area, where she sold her handmade clothing in a boutique in Weston, MO, and then later worked as a receptionist at Western Dental and The Whole Person.
Sandy had quite the green thumb and enjoyed gardening, along with decorating, sewing, crafting, ballroom dancing, watching British TV shows and movies, and was known as the Hat Lady at church. She loved cats and owned many throughout her life. She could find potential in the most ordinary things and turn them into unique, fun, crafty items. Her love for fantasy is reflected in her trinkets and décor, full of fairies, unicorns, and dragons.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Mabel, siblings Jeannette, Roy, Harold, Paul, Diane, and Tim, son Darren, and grandsons Douglas and Brandon.
She is survived by her husband, John McKean, and their twin daughters Christine Jackson (Dennis) and Kathleen Russell (Douglas); grandchildren Elizabeth (Kyle), Jon, Hope (Brandon), Megan (James), Samantha, and Erin; and great-grandchildren Hunter, Bryan, Lexi, Vincent, Raven, and Oliver.
