Sandra McNair

Memorial services for Sandra McNair, 88, of Gilmer, Texas, will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, April 11, 2026, in the chapel of McWhorter Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at 1:00 pm, prior to the service.

Sandra was born on December 23, 1937, in Indian Rock, Texas, to Thomas Earl Townsend and Mary Donna Williams Townsend, and passed from this life on March 16, 2026, in Gilmer, Texas.

Sandra married Ronald McNair on February 13, 1956, in the Indian Rock Baptist Church parsonage. She graduated from Gilmer High School in 1955. She was a devoted and supportive wife of Ronald and as a deacon's wife, she was active in her church family and community. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Ronald and Sandra supported the grandchildren in all their activities and took them on many outings and vacations. She was a wonderful cook who enjoyed cooking for family and friends. Sandra owned the Clothes Corner for many years. She loved children and was an aide and librarian at Gilmer Elementary. Sandra also taught 4-year-olds Pre-K at Calvary Baptist Church and later taught the juniors class at Enon Baptist Church.

Those left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Dee Tucker (Richard); grandchildren, Amber Tucker Gutschlag (Tim), and Samuel Kenneth "Trey" Huffman III (Ann); and her great-grandchildren, Joshua Gutschlag (Maddie), Lizzie Gutschlag, Libby Huffman, and Samuel Kenneth Huffman IV.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ronald McNair; daughter, Ronette Huffman; and her sister, Polly Smelley.

Though greatly loved and deeply missed, we know Sandra is in heaven because of her love for Jesus Christ, and that we will be reunited with her one day!
