Sandra Neugent Obituary
She was born in Florida while her father was serving in the Navy. A daughter of the late Andrew and Ruth Sitzai, she is survived by two sons, Steven and Michael Neugent; a sister Mary; nephews, Adam and Kyle Lillibridge of Ashaway, Matthew Neugent and many dear friends.
'Sam', as she was known to her friends, will be remembered for her kind spirit and loyal friendship.
She will also be remembered for her many talents. As a young girl, she spent many happy hours at her grandmother's side, the late Margaret (Caffrey) Collings, learning to cook and bake. She became a phenomenal cook. She was well known for her beautifully decorated wedding cakes and specialty birthday cakes.
She enjoyed singing Karaoke at area establishments and met many new friends while doing so.
Sam's hobbies were knitting and crocheting. Her friends were the recipients of beautifully crafted gifts given to them by her hand. She entered her handmade items at area fairs and won many blue ribbons for her skills.
Her father Andy taught her to sew her own clothes from simple patterns but she took sewing to the next level, creating beautiful outfits for special occasions and everyday wear.
Sam loved spending time with her beloved nephews, Adam and Kyle, helping to guide them into becoming the fine young men they are today.
The sewing machine and the knitting needles are now still, but the memories she made with those who knew her will live in their hearts forever.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Graveside Funeral Service at 10am on Friday, November 7th at First Hopkinton Cemetery, Chase Hill Road, Ashaway. Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly is in charge of the arrangements. Condolences to Sam´s entire family. I met her many years ago square dancing, then years after that she began driving school bus in Stonington where I worked. We had many good times together. I am sorry to hear of her passing.
