Sandra Jane Nohel, a loving mother, sister and friend passed away peacefully on Saturday May 11th 2024 at the age of 77 surrounded by her family while residing in Chesaning Comfort Care Assisted Living.
A funeral service to honor her life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday May 18th, 2024 at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, 520 West Main St.
Owosso, MI 48867. Family will receive friends beginning at 12:00 PM until the time of service.
Sandra was born on August 18th 1946 in Providence, Rhode Island, to Howard Alton and Lillian Helen (Fraser) McGhee.
Sandra graduated in the class of 1964, then from there met the love of her life Thomas Robert Nohel while he was stationed in Rhode Island with the Navy where they married at St. Matthews Church then both embarked on a journey to Owosso Michigan where they had two boys Thomas Robert Nohel Jr., and Kevin Patrick Nohel. Their partnership lasted nearly 44 years until Thomas's passing in 2016.
Sandra had many career roles in her life including Respite, administrative work, janitorial duties, and more.
She had a deep love for lighthouses, and beaches along with the simple pleasures of sipping wine with her friends, sharing stories, and laughter, She listened to classic rock while quilting amazing, artistic details on every square and gifting them generously to family, friend, and groups. She was an active member of the Owosso VFW sewing group, where she shared her ideas, made cookies, and showed her prized talents. She also had an eye for fun activities with the Owosso Senior Center participating in daily lunches, craft Tuesdays and the best part Fridays Bingo! Sandra also was a devoted attended to St. Paul's Catholic Church.
Sandra will be remembered as the loud personality of the group, with a sense of humor, and the ability to light a room with her smile.
Sandra's legacy lives through her family, who were the center of her universe. She is survived by her devoted children Thomas (Felicia Rodriguez) Nohel Jr., and Kevin ( Heather ) Nohel; her loving siblings Eileen (Ray) Hutnak, Kathleen (Bill) Munroe, and Thomas (Pam) McGhee, and her dear friend Denise Outman, along with the multitude of friends she made throughout her journey. Sandra was preceded in death by her beloved husband Thomas Robert Nohel Sr., her parents, and her cherished sister Patricia McGhee.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Comfort Care of Chesaning for their love and compassionate care offered to their mother. Her memory will continue to inspire those who knew her to live with joy, to nurture creativity, and cherish bonds of friendship and family.
