Sandra Etta Corbin Pugh was born November 22, 1953, in
Pine Bluff, Arkansas, to the late Anner Robinson Corbin and William Corbin, Sr. She graduated from Merrill High School and later earned a degree in Home Economics from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.
On March 10, 1979, Sandra married Edward Pugh. Together, they built a life grounded in love, faith, service, and an unwavering commitment to family.
She was a devoted wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who found her greatest joy in being surrounded by family. A woman of many talents, Sandra worked in several capacities throughout her life, including teaching Home Economics, serving at Brown Funeral Home, and working in the family cleaners, where her strong work ethic and dependability were evident.
As a mother, Sandra faithfully prepared weekly dinner menus, ensuring each meal was nutritious and teaching her children not only how to cook, but how to care for their families through love and intention.
Sandra was "that person" - a mother to numerous children she did not give birth to; yet she loved, nurtured, and provided for as her own. Her heart had room for anyone in need of care, guidance, or a safe place to belong.
Sandra served her church and community as a 4-H club leader, held several positions at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, and led a Girl Scout troop, always ready to help and guide others.
Known for her joyful personality, Sandra enjoyed the simple things in life. She was an avid watermelon collector, loved thrift shopping, and found pleasure in jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, and solitaire. She was always busy, always giving.
She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband of 46 years, Edward Pugh; her children: Stacy Davis Jones of
Nashville, TN; Sonja Janese Jefferson of
Pine Bluff, AR; Shevaun Pugh (Moses) Shorter of
Arlington, TN; and Stevon Rayshawn Pugh of
