Sandra Geneveive Richardson

Sandra Geneveive (Ward) Richardson, age 76, of Strunk, Kentucky, passed away April 23, 2025, at the Hospice of Lake Cumberland in Somerset, Kentucky.

Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on September 7, 1948, she was the daughter of the late William Emmitt Ward and Geneveive Verlene Duncan (Ward) Peak. Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her children’s father, James “Roy” Richardson, her step-father, Earl T. Peak, three brothers: Gene Morgan, Gary Ward and Larry Ward, a sister-in-law, Mary Ward, and grandparents: John Ward and Liza (Helterbrand) Ward and Sylvania (King) Duncan and Sherman Duncan.

Surviving family include her children: James Richardson (wife Katie) of Circleville, Ohio, Debbie Crabtree (husband Paul) of Stearns, Kentucky, Troy Richardson (wife Loretta) of Winfield, Tennessee, and Sherman Richardson (wife Shonda) of Strunk, Kentucky.

Also surviving are 20 grandchildren: Justin Sumner (Omari Chaplin), Telvis Emerson (husband Jarrod), Jacob Sumner (wife Laciena), Jeremay Richardson, Angelia Richardson, Megan Richardson, Amber Richardson (Thomas Neal), Johnny Sumner (wife Dianna), Briana King (husband Harry), Kira Richardson (Chase Lowe), Ethiam Richardson (wife Brittany), Sherman “Kyle” Richardson, Sierra Richardson, Lesley Stephens-Taylor, James Stephens (wife Sarah), Sandi Jo (“D.J.”) Stringfield, Lauren Reeser, Jenna Resser, Kaylee Crabtree and Cynthia Crabtree. There are 32 great-grandchildren including Braylon Richardson who is a beloved source of comfort and great joy for his granny Sandra.  They shared a very special bond and love for each other.

Sisters-in-law are Lillian Jane Murphy and Shari Ward.

Sandra was of the Baptist faith and loved attending Second Otter Creek Church. She loved her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed making flower arrangements and having family get-togethers. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 27, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with burial to follow at the Silerville Cemetery in Strunk, Kentucky.

Visitation will be Saturday evening from 6:00 till 9:00 at the funeral home.
