Sandra Bass Roe

Aiken - Mrs. Sandra Bass Roe, 83, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2024, in the comfort of her home after a brief illness. Sandra was born in Shreveport, LA, the oldest of ten children of the late Cecil and Ada Mae Holden Bass. She married the late Glenn Alfred DuRant in 1957 and moved to his hometown of Lake City, SC. She became a widow at the young age of 32. She then married her late husband, Paul Edgar Roe, Sr, of Aiken, SC, and shared 43 happy years together. Sandra and Paul worked in the fertilizer and chemical business as owners of Carolina Eastern in Aiken, SC. 

 Sandra is survived by her daughter, Rhonda (Chuck) Shaver, Aiken; sons Jimmy (Michelle) DuRant, Aiken; Allen (Julie) DuRant, Aiken; grandchildren Jennifer (Brooks) Abney, Aiken; Caley (David) Crowe, Chapin; Holden (Allee) Shaver, Travelers Rest; and Maggie Boyle of Bluffton; great granddaughter Savannah Abney and great grandson Christian Crowe. Sisters Ollie Bryan, Shreveport, LA; Mary Cascio (Louis), Lafayette, LA; Sheree Pulley, Bossier City, LA. She also has numerous nieces and nephews. 

 In addition to her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Paul E Roe, Jr., and David Wayne Roe. 

A visitation will be held at 2:00pm with the funeral service following at 3:00pm on Sunday, July 14, 2024, at Hillview Baptist Church, with the Reverend Mike McAlpin officiating. Interment will follow in the Clear Water Branch Baptist Church cemetery. 

 Pallbearers will be Holden Shaver, David Crowe, Brooks Abney, Eddie Willing, Tony Edington, and Daryl Mcelhaney.
