Sandra Romrell Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jul. 30, 2025.
Sandra Griffeth Romrell, age 77, passed away June 14, 2025, from cancer at the Homestead Assisted Living Center in St. Anthony, Idaho. Sandy was born March 23, 1948, in Preston, Idaho, the fifth child of Vaughn and Laurene Griffeth. Sandy grew up in the river-bottoms of Dayton, Idaho. She graduated from West Side High School in 1966. She attended Ricks College where she graduated with an associates degree in elementary education. She met her husband, Kent Romrell, there, and they were married May 24, 1968, in the Logan Temple. Sandy and Kent resided in Utah for nine years before moving to Wilford, Idaho. Their four oldest boys (Brian, Russell, Kevin, and Mark) were born in Utah. Their youngest son (Wade) was born after their return to Idaho. Sandy worked in food service for 31 years for Fremont County School District from 1981-2013. She worked at Lincoln Elementary, Central Elementary, Ashton (serving both the elementary and the high school) and Teton Elementary. She loved the children she served and developed close friendships with her colleagues. Sandy served in many positions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in the scouting program for 15 years as well as serving as a teacher and in the presidency of many auxiliaries. She and Kent served as missionaries in the St. Anthony Family History Center from November 2004 to November 2005. She enjoyed sewing, cross-stitching, reading, scrapbooking, cooking, making books of quotes and sayings, and doing crossword puzzles and word searches. Sandy loved spending time with her family. She loved doing crafts and baking with her grandchildren, planning family reunions, and visiting with family and friends on the phone. Sandy was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2014. Her cancer metastasized in 2017 and began to spread throughout her body. She had radiation for nodules on her scalp in 2019 which caused hair loss that made her self conscious. Her condition continued to decline to the point where she needed more assistance than the family could provide at home. Sandy entered the Homestead Assisted Living Center in St. Anthony May 20, 2025, where she remained until her death. She loved her caregivers there and was so grateful for everything they did for her. Sandy is survived by her sons, Brian Kent Romrell of Santaquin, UT; Kevin Vaughn Romrell of Rexburg, ID; Mark Daniel Romrell of Wilford, ID; and Wade Bradley Romrell (Heather Cherrington Romrell) of Menan, ID; her daughter-in-law, Michelle Joy Youkers Romrell; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; her siblings, Ferrin Griffeth (Barbara Chatterton Griffeth, deceased); Steven Griffeth (Gaye Romrell Griffeth); and Cheryl Blau (Martin Blau, deceased); her brother-in-law, Keith Brimhall; and her sister-in-law, Kathleen Bachelor Griffeth. She was preceded in death by her husband, Terry "Kent" Romrell; her son, Russell Scott Romrell; her parents, Vaughn P. Griffeth and Myrtle "Laurene" Bowden Griffeth; and her siblings, Carolyn Griffeth Brimhall, Clark Griffeth, and Vaughn "Bradley" Griffeth. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 19, 2025, at the Wilford Church (215 N. 2400 E.) at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm at the Wilford Church and Thursday from 10:00 am until 10:45 am at the church before services. Burial will be in the Wilford Cemetery under the direction of Bert Flamm Mortuary.
