Sandra (Sandy) Jean Salch (Topping), lived her life with immense kindness, a giving nature, and a fearless spirit. Sandy passed away peacefully on September 26, 2025, in Spring Hill, Florida, at the age of 70.
Sandy was born on July 3, 1955, in Detroit, Michigan, to her loving parents, Ernie and Thelma Topping. She grew up in a busy, close-knit household, where she was loved by her four siblings: Dan, Tom, Jackie, and Debbie.
Sandy lived a life brimming with adventure and curiosity from a young age. As a teenager, she bravely took to the air, performing as an aerialist in the circus, an experience that embodied her courage and independence. Throughout her life, she remained active, whether she was playing soccer or enjoying her bowling league. She loved to camp and white water raft. Her adventurous spirit extended to exploration, with a passion for travel and searching for antiques.
For many years, Sandy served her community as a dedicated Rural Letter Carrier for the U.S. Post Office. Her career was a perfect reflection of her spirit; she was known not just for delivering the mail, but for delivering a smile, a kind word, or a watchful eye to the families on her route, embodying the true meaning of community service.
The great joy of Sandy's life was the family she built with her beloved husband of 50 years, Bill Salch. Their enduring partnership became the foundation for their family. She was a devoted mother to her son, Bill Salch Jr., and lovingly welcomed her daughter-in-law, Lori. Sandy's spirit lives on in her three cherished grandchildren, Connor, Eli, and Evan, whom she adored.
Sandy will forever be remembered for her unwavering generosity and the gentle kindness she extended to everyone she met. To know Sandy was to feel cared for, and her legacy is the countless acts of giving and compassion she performed throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernie and Thelma, and her siblings, Dan Topping, Tom Topping, and Jackie.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Bill; her son and daughter-in-law, Bill Jr. and Lori; her grandchildren, Connor, Eli, and Evan; and her sister, Debbie.
