Sandra Lee Shingleton, a beloved figure to all who knew her, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2025, in Parma, Ohio. Born on June 22, 1948, in Akron, Ohio, Sandra lived a vibrant life characterized by an unyielding spirit and heartwarming kindness.
Sandra enjoyed a rewarding career, retiring from FedEx after dedicating many years to installing their communication systems. She was a woman of many talents, taking pride in her work while embracing the numerous relationships she built along the way. Known for her tough exterior, Sandra possessed a soft, kind heart that endeared her to friends and family alike. Her honesty and straightforward manner often brought comfort and clarity to those around her; she always spoke her mind, ensuring that everyone felt heard and valued.
Devoted to her family, Sandra shared a deep bond with her son, Ivar "Skip" Hjelmquist, and was proud of her grandchildren Courtney (Nicholas) Dodds and Tallon Hjelmquist, as well as her great-grandchildren, Edwin and Ellie Dodds. She took immense joy in the time spent with her cherished family, always ready to create new memories whether it was through spirited game nights or dancing with joy.
Sandra’s love for animals, particularly dogs, highlighted her nurturing nature, and this affection extended into every aspect of her life. As a proud Girl Scout, she embraced service and leadership, instilling values of compassion and community in all her endeavors. With a penchant for travel, Sandra found delight in exploring new places and sharing experiences with those she loved most.
She leaves behind her brothers, Jess (Kim) Shingleton and brother-in-law Chuck Linderman, along with five cherished nieces and nephews, and thirteen great-nieces and nephews, each of whom will carry her legacy forward in their hearts.
Sandra is reunited in eternal rest with her loving parents, June and Jess Shingleton, her sister Jan Linderman, and nephew Tony Shingleton, all of whom she held dear throughout her life.
As we remember Sandra, we do so with love and gratitude for the kindness she imparted and the strength she exemplified. Her indomitable spirit will continue to inspire all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
