Foy Shingleton Obituary
He was a native of eastern North Carolina and the son of the late William W. and Julia Cook Shingleton of Wilson, N.C.
Foy attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and graduated in 1957 with a degree in Business Administration. One of the highlights of his college years was playing on the freshman basketball team for his beloved Tarheels. Later, he obtained a pharmacy degree from the University of South Carolina. He worked many happy years as a pharmacist until retiring.
In retirement, he filled his time gardening, volunteering as a docent at the Leu House Museum, traveling, and spending time with his family. He will be remembered for his easy-going nature, friendliness, southern charm, and handsome looks.
Foy was predeceased by three sisters and six brothers.
He is survived by Judith, his beloved wife of 46 years, six children: Julie (TN), Jan (CA) Jay & wife Kristi (NC), Lori (NC) Lisa & husband Frank (FL), Elizabeth & husband Michael (FL) ; two stepchildren: Pam & husband Tom (FL), Angela & husband Lee (FL), thirteen grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Also, his best friend of 85 years - Tommy Kirby of FL.
The family will hold a small, private celebration of his life in the fall, honoring his memory and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in his memory to the Alzheimer's & Dementia Resource Center at https://adrccares.org/.
