She was born in Grundy, Virginia, and was the daughter of the late James William Keen and Leona Davis Keen.
She was a lifelong resident of the area and worked at several restaurants including Wanda's and the Rainbow. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter Jamie K. Helton, one sister, Sue Christian; and two brothers, Tim and Billy Joe Keen.
Survivors are:
Daughter: Janie Smith of Tazewell, Virginia
Son: James William Helton, Jr. and wife, Amber of Richlands, Virginia
Special Family Friend: Roger Keen
Sisters: Joyce Hurley and Carter St. Clair; Cindy Keen and Terry Justus; Connie Looney and George; Margie Fisher and husband, Danny; Brenda Church; and Glenna Stevens and John
Brothers: Darrell Keen and Michelle; Bobby Keen and wife, Irene; Ira Keen, and Linda Mitchell
Grandchildren: Zachary Smith and wife, Luciann; and Timothy "TJ" Smith
Great Grandchildren: Stanley Smith, Dominic Smith, and Maelynn Smith
Funeral services for Sandra Smith will be conducted Sunday, August 7, 2022, at 2 PM at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Dannie Short and Rev. Bobby Keen officiating. Interment will follow at the Keen Family Cemetery near Harman, Virginia. Pallbearers will be T.J. Smith, Zack Smith, James Helton, Roger Keen, Jonathan Mullins, and Darrell Keen. Friends may call after 6 pm on Friday and Saturday evenings at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia. Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia is in charge of arrangements and those wishing to express sympathy online may do so at www.hurstscottfuneralhomes.com.
