Sandra Syrett Obituary

Syrett, Sandra D.
SELKIRK - Sandra Darlene Syrett, 83, of Selkirk, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2025, at home surrounded by her loving family.
Sandy was born and raised in Coxsackie, the daughter of the late Peter and Eleanor Cary. She raised her family with love and devotion before joining the workforce, first with PIA and later with New York State, retiring in 1995.
While raising her children, Sandy was active in her church and its many activities. She maintained lifelong friendships and filled her home with warmth and creativity, refinishing furniture, decorating every space with care, and canning home-grown fruits and vegetables and making jelly.
Sandy was a talented crafter; quilting, sewing Halloween costumes, painting, cross-stitching and so many more! Her home is filled with the beautiful works she created, many of which she lovingly shared with her family, who will cherish them always. Family vacations on the beach and camping trips were some of her happiest times.
Sandy and her husband, George, enjoyed traveling to the Caribbean and later spending winters in Florida. In the summer, if she wasn't swimming, she could be found on a nearby golf course with her golfing buddies or tending to her flower gardens and landscaping.
Sandy was a longtime member of the Bethlehem Community Church and most recently attended Kings Chapel. She loved the Lord and shared her faith with others.
Sandy was predeceased by her beloved husband, George J. Syrett Jr.; her sister and best friend, Ellen Allshouse; her devoted companion, her King Charles Spaniel, Gabriel and several close, lifelong friends.
She is survived by her children, Suzanne Egan (Bob) of Selkirk, George Syrett III (Amy) of Orlando, Fla., Jennifer Reohr (Chris) of Voorheesville, and Heather Syrett of Austin, Texas; brothers, Raymond Cary and Jim Cary (Theresa); grandchildren, Josh and Rachel Egan, David Syrett (Ashley), Justin Syrett, Samantha Medley (Chad), Lindsay Reohr, Rebecca Solloway (Mikayla), Macintyre and Jayna Syrett; and great-granddaughters, Poppy and Madelyn Syrett. She also leaves behind many dear friends, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Sandra's family is deeply grateful for the support and comfort provided by her aides and Community Hospice.
Calling hours will be held at Applebee Funeral Home, on Tuesday, November 18, from 4 to 7 p.m. A service to celebrate Sandra's life will take place at 10 a.m., on Wednesday, November 19, at Kings Chapel Church, with interment to follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Rt. 9W, Selkirk.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in memory of Sandra to The Capital City Rescue Mission.
