I just learned of Sandy’s passing and very sorry to hear the news. Sending my warmest condolences to the family.
I met Sandy at MiraCosta where she was a teacher, mentor, friend and colleague. She generously provided professional guidance and support, helping me to become a childhood educator. Even more importantly, she was there when I became a new mother and desperately needed her joyful wisdom.
She had such a good heart and a gift of helping people to be better—better teachers, parents, people. She touched many lives and I’m blessed mine was one of them.

Sandy was a mentor, teacher and a friend to me. I have known her for almost 20 years. She was such an inspiring person and really helped me grow into who I am today both personally and professionally. My most recent memory of Sandy was when we sat in her garage and looking through her teacher materials and sharing stories about her work with young children. She will always be in my heart!

With your passing, Sandy, I have lost a dear friend and companion who worked tirelessly to improve the lives of our most vulnerable children. Even though you did not write books or work on national initiatives , I consider you one of the giants in the field. You gave your everything to young children and their families as you worked in the front line of duty. We shall never forget you! The world is a better place because you were here!
