On September 30, 2023, Sandi Gragg Venable, aged 76, departed this world to be with her beloved Jesus. She is survived by her husband of 28 years, John "Jack" Venable, aged 75, and her daughter, Donna Jean Pulkrabek, aged 53. Sandi was a pioneer in the field of computer programming having entered the industry in 1965 as a punch card operator. Sandi operated several software businesses over the years, and she worked with her husband at the Pittsfield Community Sale Barn. She adored dogs. She loved traveling, always bringing home penguins to add to her sizable collection. Sandi was a kind and generous wife and mother. She always had a smile on her face and warm words to speak to all. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Sandi was born on February 9, 1947, in San Antonio, Texas to Lloyd Stone Gragg (Sgt. Gragg) and Elizabeth Jean McCormack Gragg. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Floyd Akers, Jr. and James Gary (Jim) Gragg; her sister Donna Jean Schunk; and her nieces Olivia D'Ann (Dee Dee) Vick and Dawn Elizabeth (Libby) Schunk. She is survived by her sisters-in-law Dorothy Ann Martin Akers and Carol Ann (Calonnie) Gragg; her nieces Valerie Ann Melvin, Deborah Jean (Debby) Delaney, and Kelly Jean Akers; and her nephews Gary Gordon Gragg, James Paul (Jay) Schunk, and Floyd Martin (Hondo) Akers.
Sandi was also preceded in death by her previous husbands Franklin Delano Pulkrabek and Victor Mark Hubbard; her sister-in-law Lois LaRue Morgan; and her niece Laton Morgan Clark. She is survived by her stepson Timothy Mark (Tim) Hubbard; her stepdaughter Holly Dawn Hubbard Treen; her sister-in-law Mary Catherine Sultenfuss Reed; and her nieces Lanette Morgan Rice, Margie Reed Lassitter, and Jennifer Reed Biegert.
A Celebration of Life party will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at 4:00 pm till? at Kate's Saloon on the West Side of the Courthouse Square in Pittsfield, Illinois. Memorials are suggested to be made to Pike County Animal Shelter or Calvary Cemetery. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com. Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield is handling the arrangements.
