Sandra Lou Hansen Winn, born July 19th, 1945, in Washington DC to Elden (Pete), and Bettie Hansen, passed away on a beautiful Sunday evening, January 26, 2025, 6 1/2 months after her sweetheart Harold, and after a long and courageous battle of many health issues.
She attended many different schools while growing up due to being a “Navy brat “. She graduated from Box Elder High School in Brigham City, Utah where she met her sweetheart Harold. She grew up with 3 other siblings, Terry, Judy, and Bettie Lynn. After school she married her true love Harold J. Winn on June 6th, 1963, while he was on leave from the United States Navy and together, they had 2 children, Harold Jay Winn Jr. (Annette), and Cynthia Masters (Troy). They raised their family in Salt Lake, then in 2000 moved to Weston Idaho, where they finished their lives in small town country fashion.
Sandra was known throughout life as a lover of animals, especially cats, and it was always thought to be that if it came down to feeding us kids or the cats, we would have to fend for ourselves. For a few years, she ran an in home daycare, and then worked as a seamstress making down filled coats and also made packs for another company. She also enjoyed making baby quilts for many people.
Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Bettie, her sisters Judy and Bettie Lynn, a granddaughter Caylee Masters, and most recently her beloved husband Harold. Survived by her brother Terry ( Jean ) Hansen, her children Jay and Cindy, and their spouses, 5 Grandchildren, 6 Great grandchildren, and numerous pets.
Her Grandson Shawn was her caretaker for the past few years as she fought courageously against the battles she faced, and he made sure that she got to all of her countless doctors appointments and hospital visits, he was truly her Godsend and the family is truly thankful for Shawns commitment to his Grandmother.
Mom was, I’m sure, met at the rainbow bridge by the hundreds of pets that she cared for through the years. She will be deeply missed and the memories of her will forever live in our hearts.
Funeral Services for Sandra will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at 11:00 am at Gillies Funeral Chapel, 634 E 200 S, Brigham City, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 10:00-10:45 am.
