September 23, 1967 - January 3, 2025
Sandy Patrick Campbell, 57, of New Britain, beloved husband of Jennifer Kelsey Campbell, passed away on January 3, 2025 at his home. Brother of Scott Campbell of Branford, Shawn Campbell of Berlin and the late Stuart Campbell. Stepfather of Charlotte Kelsey Bishop of Patchogue, NY. Sandy was born in New Haven on September 23, 1967, son of the late Frank and Marilyn Popolizio Campbell. Sandy is survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and beloved by many friends. Proud veteran of the United States Army, deploying to Kuwait in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003 with the 1109th ACVRAD (Aviation Classification Repair Activity Depot) of the Connecticut Army National Guard. In his civilian life, he was an NDT inspector of airplane parts. Sandy will be remembered for his love of life, music and gatherings of his people. From large gatherings of friends and family at Bantam Lake, to around fire circles in backyards to music festivals, one would find him holding court in a corner laughing. Grateful Dead, Paul McCartney, The Bee Gees, Psychedelic Furs, Madelyn Peyroux, Ringo Starr and Elton John, his tastes were wide and eclectic. A lifelong collector of Spider-Man comics, he secretly wished he could spin webs. And don't ask him about John Wayne or Norma Shearer or Jaws or Star Trek if you didn't have an hour or two. We will all miss him dearly, taken too soon from this life.
Family and friends are invited to a Parlor Service and Military Honors in the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte. 80), East Haven THURSDAY evening January 9, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. Interment will be private. Sandy. With sadness yet joy, I have so many happy times in mind as I write this tribute. From the first concert I went with you to see Ratdog in Danbury on April Fools 1998 that was a stormy late night and so much more. Toad's Place, the College Street Music Hall, Gathering of the Vibes, both Farm Aid concerts in Hartford in 2018 and 2021, Roger Waters at the XL Center twice, the Kate in Old Saybrook, the last tour of C,S,N at Oakdale in 2015 and more: We enjoyed so much music together. I can never forget the rainy night at the Branford Festival when we hung out by the stage and jokingly bopped to a Bee Gees tribute band. With you and others, the birthday parties, summer gatherings, days at the Westbrook beach, St.Patrick's Day dinners with corned beef cook in a crockpot, going to Doody's for post St Patrick's day parade festivities and other times were all so special. The going out to watch, going to UConn basketball games, football games is forever treasured. Sandy was a true friend always. We did not always agree on everything yet Sandy and I completely respected each others differences. Sandy. Myself and others are all in a profound mourning period. We will get by. RIP Buddy. Love you always. For now. May the four wind blow you safely home.
