Santee Dortch Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Small’s Mortuary - Mobile on Jan. 30, 2024.
"Santee was a Blessing to Many!!"
Santee Dortch was born January 6, 1943 to the union of Willie B. Dortch and
Kitty Mae Dortch Rankin in Lower Peachtree, Alabama. He exchanged this
earthly home for his eternal home Monday, January 29, 2024 surrounded by his
devoted family and friends.
Santee accepted Christ at an early age and was reared at Morning Star Baptist
Church of Mobile, Alabama located in the Lloyd Station Community. As a
youth he was very active in the church.
He attended Lillie B. Williamson High School and was a member of the
graduating Class of 1962. He was a good student and excelled in Track and
Field.
The community knew Santee as very likable, trustworthy and a "good" and
"safe" driver. He often drove older residents back and forth out of town.
Perhaps, the foundation was being laid for his future livelihood driving
eighteen wheelers for various companies.
Santee was employed with Smith Transfer for years until he found a new home
at ABF Trucking. There he retired after forty plus years of dedicated service.
Santee was always hard worker, even from his youth. During his adult life and
even in retired years he was affectionately known as "Mr Tee" and the "Pallet
Man".
Santee lived to fish and greatly enjoyed spoiling his wife Mamie, children and
grandchildren. He also assisted many of his family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie B Dortch and Kitty Dortch
Rankin; stepfather, Willie Rankin; son, Dantonio Robinson; his siblings:
Jathon Dortch, Nellie Dortch Garmon, Willie "Buddy" Dortch and Estella
Dortch Gainous.
Santee leaves to cherish his memories, his devoted wife and caregiver, Mamie
Dortch; four loving children: two devoted daughters: Dwendolyn Ladd
(Derrick) and Synoria Kennedy (Reginald); two devoted sons: Kenne Dortch
(Lasharnette) and Rodney Dortch (Wendy); eleven grandchildren: Ariel Eaton,
Cedric Eaton, Jr., D'Erix Eaton, Jamarcus Murphy, Kentrell Dortch, devoted
granddaughter and caregiver, Alayna Dortch, T'Nyah Dortch, Brinyah
Thornton, devoted, Ashton Wright, devoted, Aleceia Dortch and Kensley
Dortch; two great-grandchildren: Chance Eaton and Kash Eaton; one devoted
sister, Beatrice (Charlie) Howze; mother-in-law, EssieB Goodwin; two sistersin-law: Dorothy Goodwin and LuTrisha (Jeffrey) Williams; six brothers-inlaw: Brady (Margaret) Goodwin, Louis (Mariann) Goodwin, Carnell Goodwin,
