Santo Faro, age 91, of Medford passed away on Monday, May 5th, at Winchester Hospital. Born and raised in Winthrop, he was the son of the late Domenico and Josephine (Noe) Faro. Santo devoted his career of 50 years to working as a Boston Harbor fisherman and an employee of Bay State Lobster. He was an avid story-teller, and spent all his free time with his children and grandchildren. Santo and his wife have lived in Medford for the past 12 years.
Santo was the beloved husband of 68 years to Sarah (Capodilupo) Faro, and the devoted father of Joann Faro of Medford, Louise Boland and her husband Matthew of Wakefield, and Gina Leccese and her husband Anthony of Medford. He was the loving grandfather (Nanu) of Sarah Boland, Alexander Leccese, Anthony J. Leccese and his wife Cali, Brianna Leccese and the late Melissa Boland. He was a cherished great grandfather to Michelle Leccese, and the dear brother of the late Winifred Paci and her husband Sam, Carmela Sicuso and her husband Joseph, Angelo Faro and his wife Lillian, and Joann Battista.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, May 10th from 9 AM through 11 AM in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated in St John The Evangelist Church (St. Michael Parish), 320 Winthrop St., Winthrop, at 11:30 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Services will conclude with burial at Winthrop Cemetery.
As an expression of sympathy, contributions may be sent in Santo's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memorials Processing, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
