Sara Brown Allen (Susie) was born on September 5, 1945, and passed away after an acute illness on August 8, 2025.

Susie was preceded in death by her parents, Frances Marie (Busenlehner) and Benjamin Freeman Brown and her sisters Evelyn Shaffer and Carol Lewis.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Kenneth Allen, her daughter and son-in- law, Trinity and Mark Scharett, her grandson, Dawson Scharett, whom she loved to pieces, her sister Mitizy Kelly, and several nieces and nephews.

Susie grew up in West End, Alabama. "Sweet Home Alabama" wasn't just a saying to Susie; it was her way of life. She loved her home state, cheering on the Crimson Tide, and keeping all things southern. It was in West End where Susie and Kenneth met as teenagers. A favorite story of Susie's was to tell how she would march around, up and down the sidewalk twirling her baton to get Kenneth's attention as he rode his motorcycle door to door delivering the morning newspaper. His attention she got, and Susie married her teenage sweetheart on April 25, 1964. Before settling in Hendersonville, TN in 1989, Kenneth's career took Susie to many locations across the southeast from Virginia to south Florida and many places in between. No matter where they lived, or for how long, Susie had a knack for making many great life-long friends.

Susie was a very supportive wife and mother, always being there to help Kenneth set up his different offices and train his secretary while also being very involved in the schools that Trinity attended through active PTO participation and occasional substitute teaching. Whatever her family needed, she was always there to help. In her retirement years, Susie assisted Trinity in her interior design business. She could be found at the design shops helping to keep books, tending to customers, or just enjoying conversation sharing the latest town news and making people happy with her contagious sense of humor. Family and her Alabama roots were important to Susie. She enjoyed hosting many family gatherings at hers and Kenneth's farm in Dawson, AL, The AAA Ponderosa. She had a flare for making each gathering a true memory for the record books. She loved seeing the joy it brought to everyone. Susie walked her life by her faith in God and upheld herself to His standards. She's in heaven now bringing everyone together while sharing her smile and laughter. After all, these were the traits for which she was known.

A memorial service will be held Friday, August 22 at Hendersonville Memorial Gardens. Family will receive visitors at 1:00pm and the service will begin at 2:00pm.
