Sara Rebecca Beard

Sara Rebecca Beard, 59, of Talladega passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2026. A celebration of life service will be held in her honor at 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Cragdale Baptist Church, 2149 Berney Station Rd., Talladega, AL 35160, with Sam Walker and Taylor Gurley officiating. Her family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the ceremony.

Rebecca was a native and lifelong resident of Talladega, and she graduated from Talladega High School. Her deep love of children was evident in her choice of career. She retired from Talladega City Schools where she was an instructional assistant at R.L. Young Elementary School for over thirty years. She was a devoted member of Cragdale Baptist Church, and she enjoyed reading and talking on the phone. Even though she was known for being stubborn and outspoken, she had a huge heart full of compassion and love for everyone. She was always there to lend an ear and tell you exactly what she thought. Anyone who knew Rebecca knows that her sons and grandsons were her greatest joy in life. She never missed an opportunity to tell you all about her boys. She was a loving and devoted mother whose unique presence and spirit will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jerry and Carolyn Cooper.

Mrs. Beard is survived by her husband of 25 years, Jerry Beard; sons, Taylor Gurley (Sarah) and Adam Beard; grandsons, Graham Gurley, Raiden Gurley, and Jones Gurley; brother, Jay Cooper; aunt, Sandra Cooper Jones, and a host of beloved cousins.
