SARA LYNN BRIAN (LYNN), age 81 died peacefully at Ames Family Hospice House in Westlake, OH, on 03/12/2026, after a very brief battle with cancer. Beloved wife of Timothy Brian for 54 years, loving mother of Jeff (Victor Diaz), and Michael (Erin). Beloved Nana of Liam, Molly, and Luke Brian; loving sister of Sr. Roselyn Humbert, Judi Dunwald (Craig), and Libby McClelland; aunt and great aunt to many; Godmother to Emily Fagan; close friend to Elaine Fagan and Kay Sabalis.

Lynn was born on October 9, 1944, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to George (Earl) and Mary C. Humbert and then moved to Toledo, Ohio, in her early childhood, and graduated from Toledo Central Catholic High School.

Professionally, Lynn was an operating room nurse in hospitals in Albuquerque, New Mexico and Anchorage, Alaska, with the majority of her career being spent at Southwest General Hospital and The Surgery Center, both in Middleburg Heights, Ohio. At the age of 44, Lynn felt called to serve her country in the United States Army Reserve Nurse Corp. In late 1990, Lynn was deployed to Saudi Arabia and served on active duty as a Second Lieutenant during Operation Desert Shield and Storm. Later she completed her duties with the US Army Reserve with the rank of Captain.

After retiring as a nurse, Lynn continued her life of service and faith as an Associate of the Sylvanian Franciscans and an 18-year volunteer with St. John Medical Center's Pastoral Care Office where her duties included providing support for patients and families along with being a Eucharistic Minister.

Lynn was never one to stand still. She loved spending time at the beach, especially Myrtle Beach, SC and Key Largo, FL. Her love of shopping is legendary as well as her enjoyment of Mahjong, chocolate, and all things related to pink flamingos. Lynn savored time spent with her family and being her grandchildren's biggest fan at all their events and activities. She will be missed and so will her bottomless bag of snacks and goodies.

Throughout her life, Lynn was happiest when taking care of others. Lynn's legacy is one of unwavering love, faith-filled devotion, and passionate care for those around her. Her life was a testament to the power of a loving heart and the impact one person can have on the lives of many.

Special thanks to Lynn's sister-in-law Judy Roy for the tenderness, love, and care she provided to Lynn during her final weeks. The family would also like to express their deepest gratitude to the compassionate and dedicated caregivers at Ames Family Hospice House.

A visitation will be on Saturday, March 21, 2026 from 9am-10am at the Busch Funeral Home, 21369 Center Ridge Road, Fairview Park, OH followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Bernadette's Church, 2256 Clague Road, Westlake OH 44145 at 10:30am.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Sylvania Franciscan Foundation or the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
