Sara Elizabeth Moss-Cardenas, AKA Mrs. Cardi to her students was reunited with her daddy, brother, and Maw-Maw Mary on January 6th, 2025 to walk the beaches of San Francisco for eternity.
Sara was a loving wife, an amazing mother, and a dedicated teacher with a passion for her special needs students. She was born an old soul that was shown through her love for Billy Joel, Fleetwood Mac and Richard Marx as well as all things California.
Sara was a Nitro Wildcat Alumni who graduated in 2002 where she was the head majorette having won festival Grand Champs at the 2001 Kanawha Valley Majorette Festival. As a long time White Sox Super fan, she showed her loyalty with her support of the worst baseball team in modern MLB history. Beyond her love for sports and music, Sara was never one to back down from a challenge. In-fact, she once agreed to teach a semester of Spanish while openly admitting her level of Spanish was muy poquito. True to form, the class passed with flying colors. Sara's other loves in life included dancing at Kelly's Dance Studio, shopping at Trader Joes, and watching her favorite television show Seinfeld - "not that there's anything wrong with that."
Sara was preceded in death by her father Gary; brother, Charlie; Maw Maw Mary; Grandma, Wanda; and grandfather, Clayton.
She is survived by her husband of 16 years Shawn; daughter, Kailee (Bailey) Walker; son, Clayton; mother, Debbie Moss; Pawpaw Charles Carpenter; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Janice and Alex Cardenas; aunt (Ant Kim) and uncle Troy Dunaway; nephews: Andrew, Sam, and Sean; nieces: Shelby and Emme; sister-in-law, Amie and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.
Special thank you to her cousin Charles Cyrus and wife Valerie, the staff on 3 South at Charleston General Hospital and Hospice at Charleston Memorial Hospital for the exceptional care given to Sara.
A Celebration of Life for Sara will be 2:00 pm Sunday January 12, 2025 at Nitro High School Auditorium.
Friends may visit with family one hour prior to the service.
In honor of the things Sara loved, please wear Red and Black (Nitro), Orange and Black (South Charleston), or your Favorite band T-shirt.
In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that a memorial donation be made to your local school Special needs classes.
