Sara Lambert Esterly went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 9th, surrounded by family. She was born on a family farm in Heflin, Alabama, the youngest of 12, to Nathan Thomas and Mary Elizabeth Lambert. Sara dedicated her life to caring for others. She pursued her passion for nursing in Columbus, Georgia, where she completed her training to become a registered nurse before embarking on a remarkable 40-year career, primarily serving veterans at the VA. Her commitment to compassionate care left a lasting impact on countless patients and colleagues.
In 1989, Sara moved to Biloxi, Mississippi, where she continued her work and built a life filled with love, service, and community. In 1997, she married her beloved Husband, William “Bill” Esterly. In addition to her dedication to nursing, Sara was a proud Red Hat Ambassador, embracing the joy and camaraderie of the organization. She loved connecting with others, bringing laughter and enthusiasm to every gathering, and inspiring women to celebrate life at every stage. In particular, she loved her family fiercely and sacrificed for them throughout her life, right up until the end.
Sara leaves behind a devoted family who will forever hold her memory in their hearts: Bill Esterly, Lori and Kyle Crowley, Eric and Christine Hollingsworth, Joshua and Laura Hollingsworth, Jarred and Emma Crowley, Michael and Julianna Hollingsworth, Mikaela Crowley, and Emily Hollingsworth. Though she has departed this life, her legacy of love, service, and unwavering spirit will live on in those who were blessed to know her.
