Mrs. Sara B. Graves, age 85, of Rome, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2025, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on February 12, 1940, Sara was the daughter of the late Render & Clara Brooks and was a lifelong resident of Rome, Georgia.
Sara lived her life as a Godly woman who gave back to her community by being an active, longtime member and former deacon of Garden Lakes Baptist Church. Her faith was a guiding light in her life, and her church was a source of comfort and purpose. Sara's greatest joy, however, was her family to whom she dedicated herself completely. Nothing delighted her more than spending time with family and offering the kind of unconditional support that could only come from someone who loved as fiercely as Sara did. If someone needed a warm bed, a listening ear, or simply a loving embrace, Sara never hesitated. Her kindness was matched by a quick wit in every conversation. She was sassy in the most endearing way, and always able to make others laugh, never at anyone's expense, but always in a spirit of joy. She was never one to speak ill of others, but she was a strong believer in honesty and unity, always encouraging harmony within her family. Before retirement, Sara was the co-owner of Meeks Picture House. She enjoyed a good book, took pride in her garden, especially her beloved azalea bushes, and cherished the laughter of her family gathered around her table. A woman of deep love and unwavering kindness, Sara lived a life that left a lasting imprint on all who knew her.
Those left behind to honor her loving memory are her husband and love of her life, Charles Graves, whom she married on November 23, 1957; her children, Lisa Graves, Tina Watts (David), Chuck Graves (Pam), and a bonus daughter, Veronica Cole (David); her grandchildren, Rachael Knowles (William), David Brock, Jeremiah Graves (Dodie), Kelsie Poulin (Josh), Taylor Meeks (Kerri), Dylan Crowe (Justin), Emily Graves (Cason), Amanda Cole (Zach), Andrew Cole, and Casey Hughes (Cody); her great-grandchildren, Devyn Brock, Presley Poulin, Tanner Graves, Bailey Shooks, Arabella Hughes, Charlie Meeks, Maddux Meeks, Callum Meeks, Ava Crowe, Juliet Crowe, Robert Crowe, Alice Crowe, MaryJane Hughes, and Sadie Hughes, her siblings, Patricia Dempsey and Virginia Hammond; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 18, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Garden Lakes Baptist Church with Dr. Jimmy Gentry, Minister Chuck Graves, and Pastor David Taylor officiating.
The family will receive friends on Monday, August 18, 2025, at Garden Lakes Baptist Church from 11:00 a.m. until service time.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Traditions Hospice (Kathy Furtada and Pam Cole) and the loving caregivers from Home Instead (Rita Graham and Vicki Pilgrim).
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Garden Lakes Baptist Church or "Our House" Domestic Violence Shelter at P.O. Box 1647 Cedartown, GA 30125.
