Sara Hinkle Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cremation Society of Kansas & Missouri - Prairie Village on Jan. 29, 2026.
Sara "Sally" Hinkle (nee Scameheorn), age 89, died peacefully in her home on December 25, 2025, in Kansas City, Missouri.

Born March 24, 1936, in Cassopolis, Michigan, Sara was the daughter of Clifford and Janette Scameheorn. She graduated salutatorian from Buchanan High School in Buchanan, MI. After high school she attended Asbury College in Kentucky, paused her studies to marry, relocate, and start a family, and later returned to academia and earned her Bachelor's degree in Accounting from the University of Toledo in her early 40's. She had a career for many years as Operations Supervisor at the University of Toledo.

She had an interest in sewing, making many of her daughter's school-age outfits. She enjoyed challenging jigsaw and crossword puzzles; the harder the better. Sara loved playing cards weekly with friends and board games with her grandkids as often as she could. In her 40's she took up ballroom dancing, excelled at it, and participated in several showcase events. Her closet was full of colorful gowns!

Sara is survived by her three daughters Susan Harman (Randy) of Kansas City, Missouri; Linda Hinkle Morgan and Carol Hinkle, both of Memphis, Tennessee; grandchildren Zach Harman (Hanna) of Boulder, Colorado; and Madi Harman of Overland Park, Kansas; brothers Eddie Scameheorn (Karen) of East Haddam, Connecticut; Wayne Scameheorn of Three Oaks, Michigan; Lee Scameheorn (Denise) of Berrien Center, Michigan; Rick Scameheorn (Jane) of Buchanan, Michigan; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Mickey Simpson, and brother Gene Scameheorn.

Immediate family will gather for a private memorial at a later date.
