Sara Gledhill Kraft passed away suddenly due to a heart attack at her last place of residence in
South Portland, ME on October 21, 2025. Sara was born 1944 in
Waltham, MA and the eldest daughter of the late Alfred Gledhill and Marjorie Furbush Gledhill.
Anyone and everyone who ever had the fortunate chance encounter with Sara always found kindness in her presence, enjoyed laughter with her often, stick-to-itiveness in almost any endeavor small or large she took on, generosity and genuineness in her love for you and a true love for life with her infectious personality.
Sara enjoyed spending her time with friends and family from Florida, Kentucky, Delaware, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Maine with her beloved surviving husband Kenneth by her side. Sara and Ken met when Sara was 41 years old and married shortly thereafter, living out a life of travel, friendships, and family gatherings. Her genuine excitement in getting to know Ken's side of the family entailed many visits, postcards and countless pictures she proudly displayed in every home she lived. Sara was a staple in her nieces and nephew's lives early on, teaching them how to ski at Cannon Mountain and weekend long sleepovers at Coburn Woods with endless pool time learning how to dive off the deep end. Sara was a big skier in her younger years, often seen at the Bumps and Bruises ski club in Franconia, NH. Sara also enjoyed playing bridge in various bridge clubs and was never one to pass up entertaining!
In her younger years Sara was very involved in her professional career in technology with Wang Laboratories from 1970-1996. Sara rose from Application Specialist to Technical Education Specialist where her development experience and consulting training proved valuable. Her education consisted of graduating from Becker Junior College, Babson Management program and various industry standard PC courses. Sara's enthusiasm, lead support, flexibility and attention to detail were always appreciated and never forgotten among her peers.
Sara is survived by her two brothers, Alfred Gledhill married to Martha, and Guy Gledhill married to Ginny. Her nieces, Jennifer Rogers married to John Roger, Gretchen Reynolds married to Jerry Reynolds, and Genie Madden. Her nephew, Joshua Gledhill married to Trang. She also has great nieces and nephews, Maggie Reynolds, Adelaide Gledhill, Natalie Madden and Elizabeth Madden. Her nephews, Andrew Jordan, Otto Rogers, Harrison Rogers and Aidan Reynolds.
Her life was never a dull moment and the memory of her will live on in many hearts. Sara created community and brought people together wherever she went. She was devoted till the end to her dear husband Ken and often put him first before herself.
Sara didn't want a funeral service. Her wishes were to celebrate her life with her close friends and family graveside and then a toast to her life in the Spring.
We will miss you, dear Sara, rest easy now.
