Myer Sara J. Myer, 96, of Ridgeview Road North, Elizabethtown, PA, entered into her eternal rest on Sunday, November 11, 2012, at the Masonic Village. Born September 1, 1916 in Little Britain Township, she was the daughter of the late Leiper G. and Ilena Bradley Jackson and was the wife of the late Samuel N. Myer who died September 18, 2003. Sara, lovingly known as "Aunt Sara" to many, graduated from the Little Britain High School. She and her husband owned a dairy farm for many years. A faithful member of the Elizabethtown First Church of God, Sara taught kindergarten class Sunday School for forty years and received the Spirit Award in 2000 for her years of dedicated and loving service as a Sunday School teacher. She received a citation by the House of Representatives' Ken E. Brandt August 27, 1985, for her involvement with the Elizabethtown Fair, received the Zone 4 Individual Award in 2000 for her dedication and service to the Fair and was the BPW Woman of the Year in 1989. She was a director on the Elizabethtown Fair Board for 39 years, member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #406, Elizabethtown, member of the Elizabethtown Grange #2076 and former member of the Farm Women Society #6, Elizabethtown. She will lovingly be remembered by her five children, J. Allen (Arlene Berrier) Myer and Kenneth D. (companion, Dr. Sally K. Nolt) Myer, both of Elizabethtown; Warren J. (Cynthia Nice) Myer, Mount Gretna; Sara Ann (Randal T.) Rissinger, Manheim, and Barbara A. (David R.) Dean, Elkton, MD; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one great great grandson; four step-grandchildren; seven step great grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy E. Brown and Marian I. Wilson, both of Quarryville, and two brothers, H. Andrew (Eva) Jackson, Peach Bottom, and Robert L. Jackson, Elkton, MD. A brother, Horace C. Jackson, and two sisters, Hazel R. Walton and Anna F. Weaver, preceded her in death. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Sara's Life Celebration Funeral Service 11 A.M. Friday, November 16th, 2012, at the Elizabethtown First Church of God 144 S. Market Street Elizabethtown, PA 17022. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Landis Valley Mennonite Cemetery, Lancaster. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8:30 P.M. Thursday at the church or from 10-10:45 A.M. Friday morning at the church. There will be an Eastern Star service at 4 P.M. Thursday. If desired, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Elizabethtown First Church of God.
