It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce Sarah Elizabeth Couture-Dumont passed away peacefully on September 28, 2024. She was born December 22, 1978 to her parents Patricia Couture and Ronald Couture.

Sarah was raised in Bedford, NH with her two siblings Keith and Jennifer and her aunty Mary Kay. She graduated from Trinity High School with the class of 1997. People were drawn to her outgoing and loving personality, building lifelong friendships with many. During this time, she excelled at many sports including gymnastics, cheerleading, soccer, swimming, field hockey, softball, and ski racing. Sarah’s effervescent smile and beauty lit up a room when she walked in, not outweighing her genuine and giving nature. She competed in pageants, earning titles such as Miss Bedford and Miss New Hampshire 1st runner up. Sarah attended Georgia Southern University and joined Kappa Delta. She was forever a devoted football fan and graduated with a degree in Kinesiology and Nutrition.

In Sarah’s most cherished role, she was the mother to Emma and Daniel Dumont. She enjoyed being active with her children, taking them on many adventures she had enjoyed as a child. From sun-filled days on the beach, to ski vacations, to spur of the moment getaways with friends, and huddling around the campfire, Sarah made the most out of every day she was with her children. She adored showing her love through cooking and creating a welcoming, always seasonally decorated home. The matching pjs, with coordinating Christmas wrap, bows and multiple themed trees will carry on as family traditions. She met her beloved partner, Jody Shields in December of 2011 and lived out the rest of her time by his side. Sarah and Jody loved nothing more than spending quality time together, and in the company of their loyal dog, Duke. Sarah always looked forward to receiving her “Friday flowers”, as Jody never failed to deliver. Sarah was a member of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Parish and thrived when helping and serving others. Her love and humor will be missed beyond measure.

Carrying on her legacy are her two children, Emma Dumont and Daniel Dumont. She is survived by her partner Jody Shields and his children, Molly and Bryan. Her mother, Patricia Couture and husband Peter Meyer; her sister, Jennifer Couture and partner Bruce; her brother, Keith Couture; her aunty Mary Kay MacNichol and husband Jimmy; her grandmother, Laurette Couture; her nephew Braxton, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Sarah is predeceased by her loving father Ronald Couture and her grandparents, Raymond Couture, Ronald and Benita Dumont and her great aunt Catherine Gallagher.

An intimate celebration of life will be held on a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating on behalf of Sarah to the Kennebunkport Animal Welfare Society or Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital.
